SygmaTel Picks PortaSwitch Softswitch/Billing Platform

SygmaTel is a company providing domestic and international voice, data and signaling services on a wholesale basis from its operations center in Egypt to telecoms throughout the Middle East, with routes stretching from Bangladesh to the United States. The firm has yet again displayed its willingness to grow and make its mark in the global telecommunications revolution by adapting the PortaOne (News - Alert) PortaSwitch communication services and subscriber management platform.

PortaSwitch is a software platform built specifically for telecommunication service providers, wholesale carriers, ISP, MVNO and NGN operators to unify voice and data traffic within a single converged network. It is built around a comprehensive converged billing software system and includes a class 4-5 SIP softswitch with media application servers.

In addition, it provides access to the complete C5 hosted IPPBX / IP Centrex functionality, and the ultimate feature set for calling.

"Our goal with SygmaFone, our new retail service company, is to give operators the ability to provide any kind of customer-facing service—even some that haven't been invented yet," said Muhammad El-Sergani, Operation Manager for SygmaTel. "Having PortaSwitch helps a lot with the backbone of the network."

SygmaTel has assembled the right infrastructure using the PortaOne PortaSwitch communication services and subscriber management platform.

"We did a thorough market survey and by far, PortaSwitch had the best options," said El-Sergani. "We especially liked the number of service modifications allowed through PortaSwitch's open API. Out of the box it provides everything any company would need, from a small IP-PBX (News - Alert) to a carrier-grade wholesale platform."

The company is now offering its hosted services and is also developing its own retail offering based on PortaSwitch. The new service is expected to hit the market later this year, which will support voice, text chatting, SMS, top-up and money transfer services.
